Ice Pictures
Finding ice to photograph in the American Southwest can be done by heading for the northern mountains and ski areas in the winter. Even in mid-winter at high elevation the sun is hot and bright which melts snow and makes great icicles. A log cabin in the mountains with smoke rising from the chimney and a ring of icicles around the edge of the roof looks very nice.
If you get high enough, 13,000 feet perhaps, you can even find ice and snow in the summer. There will be fields of alpine meadow with wild flowers blooming and drifts melting in shady spots.
Farther north in the rocky mountains ice and snow last all year round at elevation.
Ebay is a good source for many things, but pictures of ice isn't one of them. Shown below is what they have, but for good pictures of ice, suitable for a website or print, you will have to look elsewhere.
